RumiWhat is faith — a cross-traditional definition

How interfaith families navigate conflicting definitions of faith

Our interfaith family is falling apart because my spouse and I can't agree on what we're actually passing down to our kids when we talk about faith. I was raised Christian, they were raised Buddhist, and when we try to explain faith to our children, we realize we might be talking about completely different things - like we're using the same word for experiences that don't even overlap.

The deeper question

The couple is discovering that their different traditions may offer incompatible understandings of what faith itself means.
